Diverse experiences allow to know more deeply, through the story of the guides, the Rewilding project carried out by the Rewilding Argentina fundation in the region more than 10 years ago, with several successes in terms of reintroduction of species. Added to this is the cultural experience with the local community that inhabits the area and the luxury of having exclusive access to the Fernández lagoon.
From the lodge you access a path 2.5 km through an environment of thorns, grassland, mountain with old specimens reaching a reeds on the wetland coast that is appreciated in its great extent from the top of a lookout. The tour offers very good possibilities to spot Black howler monkeys and emblematic birds such as Solitary black caciques, Brown and Yellow Marshbirds and Southem Screamer.I’m interested!
The meekness that characterizes most of the Iberian fauna offers us the possibility of observing and photographing them without them escaping in terror, as is the case of the Marsh Deers, Capybaras, Foxes and Gray brocket deers. They have become accustomed to human presence and are frequent to see during our 4x4 safaris. We also have the privilege of having another of the endangered species such as the indomitable “Maned wolf” or animals that in the past were extirpated from this environment but have been restored by the Argentine Rewilding Foundation, such as the shy Giant Anteater, the restless Collared Peccaries and the Pampas deers, as well as the Red legged seriema.I’m interested!
After sunset, the outings allow you to make sightings of those animals that choose the darkness of the night to venture out. Pampas fox, Mountain fox, Big hairy armadillos and Vizcachas are some of the species that we can find under the moonlight. On summer nights, fireflies will illuminate our path and the low light pollution of the place will allow you to appreciate a star-studded sky, difficult to observe in large cities.I’m interested!
The view of the pasture from above, walking skimming the branches of Ñandubay and reaching the wetland on the horse's saddle, is undoubtedly an experience that you cannot miss. The rider can decide between a short 1h30m or an excursion of up to 3h30m on horseback.I’m interested!
Rowing between tame Yacares Caiman, in the habitat of Capybaras, Marsh deer and marsh birds, is possible thanks to the 2.5 km channel that allows us to an exclusively access to the Fernández lagoon.I’m interested!
The most anticipated moment for everyone comes when we get on the boat to navigate in the Fernández lagoon, a place privileged by nature due to the abundance of life it has. Sailing alone, in an exclusive way, in the immensity of this water body, positioned as one of the largest lagoons in Iberá, it will allow you to know the home of capybaras, Marsh Deers, Neotropical otters and birds such as the Headed blackbird, the Capped donacobius or the Cocoi Heron. Living a sunset in the sparkling waters is one of the most exciting experiences we offer and that you will certainly not forget.I’m interested!
The experience on two wheels, diverting Capybaras, braking to see some Gray brocket deer and crossing bridges over streams, culminates with the magical Iberá sunsets, in the best place for wildlife watching, the wetland coast.I’m interested!
Posada Uguay is only 5km from its sister hostel Rincón del Socorro, which is inserted into the Iberá National Park. Through visits that we made to it we can know the projects of rewilding (reintroduction of species) that REWILDING ARGENTINA FOUNDATION is carrying out and by the hand of the guides who explain to us the importance of the Wetlands ecosystem reconstruction.I’m interested!
